Dr. Susan G. Murrmann is one of the co-founders of the McDonald Murrmann Women’s Clinic, and Medical Director of the McDonald Murrmann for Skin, Laser, and Healthy Aging. She is a sought-after lecturer and television commentator on a variety of women’s health topics including healthy lifestyle choices, heart disease, minimally invasive surgery in women, and surgical site infection prevention. Starting in May 2001 to 2009 Dr. Murrmann has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America.

 

An ardent believer in raising awareness about women’s health issues, she served on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association and is immediate past President of the AHA Board in 2005. She is the Chairman of the board of the Methodist Healthcare Foundation and has served on the committee for the Methodist Healthcare Cancer Center Luncheon that has welcomed guests such as Queen Noor, First Lady Barbara Bush, and Tom Brokaw. Dr. Murrmann was also named the first female “Healthcare Hero” by the Memphis Business Journal in 2005 for her work with the community and several charities. She served on the board of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, earned status as a Certified Menopause Clinician by the North American Menopause Society, and is a graduate of the 2005 class of Leadership Memphis. Dr. Murrmann was also named as one of the “Top Fifty Influential Women in Memphis” and she and Dr. Mary McDonald were named two years in a row as “Top 10 Female Business Owners” by the Memphis Woman magazine. Dr. Murrmann currently serves as a co-chair for the Humane Society 75th Anniversary campaign “Dog Daze of Memphis” that promotes the Humane Society, Memphis, and art. In the past she has chaired many events and galas for charity including The American Heart Walk, The Heart Gala, and was the founder of “The Zodiac Ball” for the American Cancer Society.

 

She completed her undergraduate studies and graduated with honors at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, she studied at The Chicago Medical School/University of the Health Sciences graduating with multiple honors, served two years of her residency at the University of Illinois, and and two years of residency at the University of Tennessee in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her society memberships include the Memphis Shelby County Medical Society, Tennessee Medical Association, and North American Menopause Society, the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Society of Cosmeticogynecology, and the American Association of Cosmetic Surgeons. Dr. Murrmann is an expert in the area of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Surgical Site Infections and has been involved with many clinical studies and lectures in those areas. She currently serves on the faculty of University of Tennessee for the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship and as Secretary of the Memphis Robotic Surgery Society. Dr. Murrmann also consults for Ethicon Endosurgery and Ethicon Endosuture where she lectures locally and in the across the country in minimally invasive surgery, wound closure, and surgical site infection.

 

Dr. Murrmann also believes that women who “take better care of themselves on the outside ultimately take better care of themselves on the inside,” and she recently became a member of the International Society of Cosmetogynecologists and serves as the Medical Director of the McDonald Murrmann Center for Skin , Laser and Healthy Aging.

 

Dr. Murrmann also believes that women who “take better care of themselves on the outside ultimately take better care of themselves on the inside” so her expertise includes all aspects of women’s health, including the minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, healthy lifestyle choices, and alternative health recommendations.

 

Although a transplant to Memphis from Chicago, Illinois, Memphis is her new home where she has been involved in many local organizations that promote health, Memphis, the arts, and tourism. She is currently a member of the National Association of the Recording Artists and is a supporter of Musicares, and organization that provides medical care to musicians without healthcare insurance. Dr. Murrmann is also on the executive committee of the Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commission, the board of the Indie Memphis Film Festival, and the Beale Street Note committee that awards “Brass Notes” on Beale Street to deserving local musical artists.
